A man of the people, who's always there for everybody regardless of religion or color. A father whose qualities extend beyond his immediate family. A very kind and open hearted man who rarely counts on the faults of others. You will be dearly missed, Uncle Geoffrey.

Mrs Veronica Makwe

I count it a true privilege to have known and been touched by the life of this remarkable man. He was generous in the truest sense, going out of his way to make everyone around him feel seen, cared for, and comfortable. When I schooled with his daughter, Ijay in my country, she was far from home - a foreigner in unfamiliar surroundings. Yet her father’s love knew no distance. Whenever he tried to reach her and couldn’t, he would quickly call me, asking with genuine concern, “Is your friend okay?” simply because he wanted to speak to her. That kind of love and attentiveness speaks volumes about the father he was. Years later, when I attended my Ijay’s wedding in Nigeria, I witnessed that same generosity firsthand. He ensured we were all well taken care of, personally saw us off with gifts, and I learnt that he even sponsored the keepsake gifts for all the guests - gifts I still treasure to this day. Who does that? Only a man with an exceptionally kind and giving heart. His life reminds us that true greatness is found in love expressed through action.

To the family, may you find comfort in God’s Word: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18).As you grieve, may you also be encouraged by the assurance that his life bore lasting fruit. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… for their deeds will follow them.” (Revelation 14:13). May the God of all comfort surround you with His peace and strengthen you during this season. His legacy of love and generosity will continue to live on through you.
